What do the statuses in the Participants panel mean?
The Participants panel (the small box in the bottom-right of the recording room) shows the host or producer a headcount and a live status for everyone in the session.
During a session
Ready: connected, not recording yet.
Saving: recording normally. Their track is captured locally and uploads in the background.
Falling behind: their upload is lagging their recording, usually a slower connection. Nothing is lost, everything is still captured on their device, but they should keep their tab open after the session so the upload can catch up.
Far behind: the same thing, but worse. Their upload is more than a few minutes behind and turns red. The recording is still safe on their device, but they should check their connection and must keep the tab open long enough for it to finish.
A dash: we have not heard from them for a little while, usually a connection problem rather than a recording one. It clears on its own when they come back.
After recording
Uploading X%: recording stopped; their file is uploading, with a live percentage so you can watch it finish.
Finishing upload…: upload done, just finalizing.
Complete: their track is fully uploaded and safe.
Upload failed: their upload hit a hard error; they'll see a retry prompt on their own screen.
Ready and Saving are what you'll see for almost the entire session: everything working normally. Falling behind and Far behind show up occasionally when someone's connection is slower than their upload needs, but their file stays safe on their device the whole time. If someone's upload fails, individual tracks can often be recovered, and the combined backup is there as a fallback. See A track is missing. How do I recover it? if you ever need it. Once everything finishes, look for Complete next to everyone's name, that's your all-clear.
Click the panel to expand it, and see each person's microphone, camera, audio output, and whether they're using headphones. It's worth checking this for your guests right when they join, before you hit record: confirm they're on the right mic and camera, and see if they need a nudge to put on headphones. If someone isn't using headphones, you'll see a yellow warning next to their name, since it affects whether echo cancellation is on. Guests see a version of this panel too, but only their own upload status. They don't see anyone else's status, or any of the device details hosts and producers can see.
