If your connection drops

Recordings are captured locally on each participant's device, so a brief connection blip usually will not interrupt anything. As long as a person's browser tab stays open, their own track keeps saving, and their upload catches up once they are back online.

A longer or more serious drop can interrupt that person's recording, especially on a live call. SureTake flags it on their screen right away and they follow the prompts: either carrying on where they left off, or being asked to refresh and rejoin, which starts a fresh take for them. Everything captured up to that point is already saved, and they can rejoin with the same link.

If there is a producer in the room, the host dropping out does not stop the recording at all. It keeps running, and the host can rejoin and pick straight back up.

“Reconnecting” vs “Refresh & rejoin”

These are two different messages, and they ask for two different responses.

Reconnecting is temporary. The connection dropped and is being restored, so there is nothing to do but wait. The recording keeps saving on the device the whole time. Do not close the tab.

Refresh & rejoin is a button, and it means the session cannot be picked back up as it is. Clicking it reloads the page and starts a fresh take. If it is greyed out and reads Saving, a file is still uploading, so wait for that to finish before clicking.

Either way, everything captured up to that point is already saved.
