What is CPU/Bandwidth Saver, and when should it be used?

If you or someone else in the room is experiencing choppy video, a laggy call, a computer that's straining, or a connection that can't keep up, CPU/Bandwidth Saver is an easy first thing to try.

It pauses the live video of everyone else in the room on that person's screen, which does two things: their computer no longer has to decode everyone's incoming video, and their connection no longer has to download it. Rendering and downloading several live video feeds is one of the most demanding things the room does, so turning them off frees up both the computer and the connection right away. They still hear everyone normally; they just stop seeing the live picture while it's on.

Anyone can switch it on for just themselves from the settings button in the right sidebar. It's most often a guest on a slower or older laptop, or on a weak connection, but a host can turn it on too if their machine or connection is the one struggling.

Most importantly, it only changes what that person sees live and does not affect the recording. Everyone still records locally at full quality, and everyone else still sees and hears them normally.
